They get dumped into a "Tryout" playlist. Then, they go through MixedInKey to get bpm/key sorted. If I didn't preview them in full before downloading, I do that before anything else. ITunes Match lets me preview and start sorting whether I'm at my computer, phone, iPad, work, etc.

My central organization is through iTunes for a couple reasons:

TL DR I'm new and having some trouble deciding how to manage my tracks and their tags, what do you suggest? Disclaimer - the tagging software I use DOES seem to have some special compatibility with Traktor. Additionally how do you think your method is more beneficial than other possible solutions?įor anybody who uses Rapid Evolution or other key tagging software, why might the metadata not transfer from RE to Deckadance? Because just dragging from one program to the other doesn't transfer the info.

I then drag and drop all of my new songs into a meta tagging system (Rapid Evolution or RE) and then from there to my DJ software (Deckadance).Įxactly what is in the heading. What I've been doing with my music is this: I keep a Google Drive folder for my tracks saved in my file Explorer on both my desktop and laptop, when I find a track on either computer I simply drag it into that folder and it syncs straight to my laptop. I've only been mixing since about March '14 and only recently have I taken it more seriously (been focusing on production). I've had a dilemma for some time when it comes to my music management.

I think I'm going to start creating nested folders inside my software of choice (Deckadance) and used MixedInKey to help tag my music more efficiently! Feel free to keep sharing your methods to give others some ideas! Thanks for all the replies guys this has been seriously helpful in helping me figure out how to organize my music.
